Week 11

Week 11 has been amazing so far! No morning sickness and I have more energy than I have in weeks. In regards to how plump my belly is looking I just ate a big lunch and I am beyond bloated. This was a hard photo for me to post because Andy literally asked if I was poking it out. Of course I was not I would never attempt to look larger than I am if anything I would attempt to look thinner. This may be the end of bare belly shots. They don't help my self esteem!

Highlights this week have been my cravings. They include pickles, Cinnamon buns, and chicken wings.

On Wed Sept 30th we are scheduled for our 12 week ultrasound. Our midwife says if Townsend is cooperating we may get an idea of the gender so that is exciting. Plus that will mark the beginning of our 12th week a time I have been waiting for to start shopping!!!!
Keep the prayers coming for a healthy baby.

Week 10

Welcome to the end of the 1st trimester! Trust me, I am ready. The nausea has already started to change from a constant to an occasional threat. I have two new accessories... and they are now less off limits to the hubby than they used to be. According to my hair dresser, who is an amazing Italian lady, I am having a baby girl. She did this weird Italian trick with a chain and my wedding ring, and the results were "girl" both times. Honestly, we don't care what the gender is, but I am very entertained by these predictions. I can say pretty certainly that most of the votes on my side have been girl, and on Andy's side have been boy... we will know soon enough and plan on auctioning the results to the highest bidder.

Just kidding.

9 Weeks photos

Lennie's rendition of me pregnant. I think she did an amazing job!

Abbey- "Do I look fat"?

Andy- "You're pregnant"

Abbey- "That is a nice way of saying you think I am fat"

Andy- "This conversation is over"

Poor Andy can't beat the hormones that have taken over his wife. While morning sickness has eased up a bit this week I am now a range of emotions. I can be sad, mad, and happy in 2.2 seconds. Pray for Andy!

Recently, I was forced to spend a long week in bed worrying endlessly about our baby. During that time, I had my typical morning sickness and some not so typical cramping and bleeding. I found that I was feeling pretty sorry for myself and my situation… wishing to be a glowing pregnant woman with no pain or sacrifice, just a lovely baby bump and easy road. Then, I suddenly realized something that I had been forgetting. After being diagnosed with fertility issues, I did everything I could to make myself healthy and ready for a baby. I lost weight, I gave up food I loved, I exercised more, I prayed more, and I fought for something I wanted. I think when you do not expect something to happen in the first place, it is easy to feel like it is not going to happen. I still find myself looking at pregnant women and feeling jealous. I mean I too am with child, yet when I look at them growing a baby, I can't help but remember being told I may not be able to do that. We got a miracle when we got pregnant with this baby, and I should be spending more time being grateful and less time feeling sorry for myself. I am so lucky to have morning sickness, to be able to worry about this tiny baby growing inside me, and to have this opportunity to be pregnant. How many women with fertility problems never get to experience what I am? How many spend thousands of dollars for a baby when we did so little for our blessing? So, it is with a grateful heart that I have morning sickness and a grateful heart that I visit my Dr to have blood taken. I am going to do my best going forward to embrace each day with a Grateful Heart.
